I would like to ask if anyone knows the size and spring tension on a sidefolder push button lever spring?
Also, would you happen to know where I could order a replacement spring that meets such requirements? Please feel free to correct me if my terminology is incorrect. Thanks, Drew |

Check your local ACE hardware store. They sell a wide assortment of springs. Most under $2.
I found one there a few years ago that exactly matched the spring in my Bulgy SF stock. Only difference was it was galvanized vice a black oxide finish. Same excellent tension that'll have you sweating bullets trying to install it. No, I don't remember the stock number. Its just a spring, not rocket science. Head over to you local hardware store! |

I asked the question not too long ago and never got a response.
I want to change mine also. I'll pull it out, get the dimensions, and see if I can get the spring constant somehow. One thing I did was completely disassemble mine and clean it up. It improved the lockup considerably. |

I lube mine with red bearing grease. My Bulgy one fitted perfectly and needed no filing work to perfect it.
I have a DPH one that needed some filing work and then it too worked perfectly. Just take the old spring to a good hardware store. Compare the length and wire size to what they have. Just squeeze to feel the differences in tension they offer. |

I measured my spring:
OD: 0.225" ID: 0.145" Coil Dia: 0.040" Uncompressed Length: 1.302" 15 active coils Both ends closed and ground Spring constant: 40 lbs/in ID of spring hole: 0.025" I've checked Mcmaster and Century spring, but nothing fits exactly. If you go up to a 1.5" length, 7/32 OD, and a stiff spring, you should be good. |

I will assume that you are speaking of the push button romanian side folder. Believe it or not, the long spring mainspring of a sig sauer P228 pistol cut down will fit. These long mainsprings are currently being replaced with shortened springs and the older ones are out there.
hope it helps. |

Did you find a spring that fit the measurements? I plan on heading to a few hardware stores and equipment shops later this week. I work in a predominantly farming area and there are a lot of specialty shops. There is a nut and bolt shop next to my work that mainly only sells those 2 items. I should be able to find something that will work. If not, then I will order on the internet. Thanks again guys for all the help. Drew |
