Just finished test firing first build and am trying to troubleshoot  bolt carrier hang up at hammer... have read other posts that if hold trigger back and cylce carrier that the disconnector will hold hammer then releasing trigger will  drop hammer to trigger hooks...thats what I have but disconnector will never come into play with no pressure on trigger...also carrier cycle perfectly when hammers held by disconnector...btw hammer is in flat side toward breech, spring in disc, using tapco g2 fcg and flat ....thankshinking.gif

Yes the disconnector should grab the hammer every cycle on a semi auto gun.

thanks for the response went back to the weapon and put it all back together then I took an old feeler guage and cut pieces off of it placing them up under the rear of the trigger where it rests on the receiver floor...took about .070 to get the disconnector to grab the hammer by hand (no carrier installed) but then pulling the trigger back it never releases ie disconnector that is....so it never gets to the trigger hooks I know I'm missing something .....If I had a functioning rifle to look at I might could figure it out...

do you have the disconnector spring in?

are you saying that when you HOLD the trigger back, the disconnector DOES catch, but when the trigger is left alone, it doesnt?

im pretty sure its suppose to work that way. the trigger is already holding the hammer, why does the disconenctor have to as well?

when the bolt goes back, it pushes the hammer down further then when the bolt is closed. pulling the trigger during this time allows the disconnector to catch the hammer. when you release the trigger the disconnector will let go and the trigger will then catch the hammer.

the purpose of the disconnector is to keep the hammer from "riding" the bolt forward while holding the trigger back. without the disconnector, the gun COULD slamfire.

yeah... I think I  looking for a problem that isn't there.... that is what I was asking does disconector catch every cycle without pressing trigger now I see that if you continue holding the trigger back after it fires then cycles back yes.... but releasing trigger no ...I was looking at the animation posted elsewhere and it seems to have a delay before the hammer is in the trigger hooks ...oh well it something new to me and having a blast learning...cant wait to get some more ammo.....
