Did IMI make the Galil in 7.62x39?  Was t ever imported to the U.S.?

Do the 7.62x39 Galil and Valmet use the standard AK47 magazine?

Thanks.

Don't think any were imported into the US.

However there is a guy that is selling Galil 7.62x39 barrels in the states, supposedly from IMI.

7.62x39 Valmet's use standard AK mags.

Yep remember the fins believed russia would be the most likely country to invade them. So the Valmet was made to utilize both russian ammo and mags that they could recover from fallen russian troops.

I think thats how the story goes.

Yup, we Finns are cheap bastards. Why make our own ammo when we can bayonet a few Russians and take their ammo if the need arises. They thought they were clever when they changed to 5.45 just to spite us, but now we'll just  take their rifles too. Added bonus: no wear on our precious Sakos and Valmets
