I just had to show it off with the new stock set from K-VAR and a Bulgy waffle mag. If anybody has been thinking about ordering one of these stock sets I would recommend it. I got the original Warsaw pact length. The side sling swivel and buttplate are already installed when you get it, well worth the money I think.

Exactly what id do if I had one...nice taste bro ;)

How well did everything fit together on the SAR?

Thanks! Very easy fit, just a little scraping and filing here and there but thats better than it being too small. If you have never removed the upper handgaurd go to Romanian Kalashnikov Rifles .com for a good how to. I was sure I would break my wood one getting it off but it worked just fine.

It normally don't like green furniture, but it actually looks pretty good IMO.  Is that Alumahyde II I see? Also, the easiest way to get the handguard out I find is to fit a crescent wrench to the end of the gas tube that fits into the rear sight block and twist the handguard with my other hand. Works really well.

No Alumahyde on it, it's the green stock set from K-VAR.

I've been debating getting that stock set for mine for several months.  The only thing that has held me off is their UPS only shipping policy - UPS sucks here and is very expensive.

Have you shot it yet?  I am curious if it starts to melt after 500 rounds or so of rapid fire?  My wood set is getting black around the edges...

I was also wondering how hot they get during the above mentioned type of abuse.  I have to put mine down after 250 rounds or so because the wood is too hot to touch.

I've only fired about a hundred rounds through it so far, the lower hand gaurd does have a heat shield in it but I haven't done a lot of rapid fire to really test it yet. By the way, K-VAR requires a signature on UPS delivery on orders over $100 unless you tell them when you order that you just want it left at you address with no signature required.

These stock sets do not melt after prolonged use; or at least mine never did.  The heat shield in the lower handguard looks like it's built pretty tough too.  After a while, you can feel the heat coming out from between the upper and lower handguards, but mine never got so hot that I couldn't hold it...even in this Texas heat.

03Shooter,  I do not own any rifles with green furniture, but it looks awsome.  Green is very cool!

Crap. I've been fighting this for over a year now and all of a sudden I'm caving.

Looks good.  I've been thinking about getting a SAR-1 just to complete my SAR collection. Its a hard decision though, get a SAR-1 or keep saving for something else.  I've got a SAR-2 already so its not like without SARS.

The sling is the Romanian one that came with the rifle. Ok, I guess I deserved the remarks about getting the wood one off !
