I am anxiously awaiting a call from my FFL to pick up an unconverted Saiga in 5.45 ... The conversion looks really straight forward (thanks to this site)

I currently have an AR that is chambered in 5.45 and I love it.

My question is, are there any reasons (as long as the Siaga's  barrel is not threaded) that I could not thread the barrel to fit an AR type muzzle device.  I know this might be blasphemy, but I am currently running a Troy Claymore and have had excellent results.

I have had a few people tell me that this is not possible, but I am not understanding why.

I found exactly what I wanted Here so that I can thread the barrel in the traditional pitch

congrats! and good luck on the conversion! Thread the barrel 14x1 LH and buy an AR type in that thread pitch if you can. Will take a mill to get the barrel thin enough to thread 1.2 x 28.

I've converted quite a few myself and am about to take the plunge again. Hit me up if you have any questions.

Some info from Dinzag's website, may or may not apply in your case:  http://www.dinzagarms.com/downloads/308_fsb_install.pdf
