Mine is awsome, and thats a decent price. If it's University in Tampa, I saw them at the fun show, and they were nice. The no-ban version (which I have) looks a little better to me. I've also heard the break makes a lot of difference when your shooting.

That's a very good price for the ban version.

Yes the front sight block can be removed and replaced with one that is threaded for the muzzle brake.

but shoot it first without the brake and decide.  The brake cuts down on recoil some, but it increases the noise to your ears as well.

I bought an SLR105R (the one you saw at the store) and with the help of Kvar and Chris Butler from AKUSA turned it into a non-ban version. For that price I would grab it and convert it over to a non-ban version with the muzzle brake on it...

Great gun but you can do $50 better on the price.  Check thegunsource.com     They had then for under $400.  I got my no ban SLR-105a1R from them for $550 and got 5 free mags and refunded my shipping charges when UPS fucked up and scratched the rifle.  They sure didn't have to do that for me...but did.  I'll be a return customer for sure!

Good score on the SLR105,mine was originally a ban version.I had In Range install the FSB,do the stock conversion and re-finish the rifle. The threaded FSB is getting hard to find, check the EE,they pop up every once in a while.

Get the rifle, pick up an AKS74 kit from ORF, the non matching one runs about $220 or so.  Send it and about  $350 off to AK-USA or Inrange or one of number of guys.  Have them do the front sight and side folder.  Sell the left overs.  You should wind up with about $850 in to a very nice, very accurate clone of a AKS74 like JOHNO's and Lxpony's.

Looks like K-Var has some in stock. I'll order the new sight and muzzle brake just to have in case they dry up. After looking at the above guns they both have AK47 gas blocks. The one they (the store) have has a 74 gas block. Not sure why they are different.

Thx for the help guys. Looks like I will have a new AK in the safe soon.

Boom, both those rifles have the 90 degree gas block.

I finally got the threaded FSB from K-VAR for mine.  I bought on of the flashhiders for it from veriforctac on the EE since K-VAR is obviously not getting them in.  Just waiting for a local builder to get caught up with some work so he can put the new FSB on for me.

I've done it with a SAR-1 and on plenty of AR's with no problem but I'm having problems getting the rear FSB pin out on the SLR-105 I have and don't want to bugger up the rifle.

Boom, better order the FSB from K-VAR before they sell out again if you are getting the rifle.  Otherwise, you might not see another for 6 months or more.  You never know when K-VAR will have items in-stock anymore.

SLR-105's are the only option when considering an AK-74.

JOHNO, That AKS-74 keeps getting better

what kind of stock is that?  I thought the krink stocks, are installed with part of the receiver cut out in the back for it too fit, looks like a regular trunion.

Boom, you're going to need mags to, best deal going right now  rapidfire.targetweb.net/cgi-bin/store/agora.cgi/agora.cgi?cart_id=9965934.5781*vc7dX8&p_id=02093&xm=on&ppinc=big

Better jump on them before all of these mag-whores buy them out.

It is a fixed FSE stock- I cant have a folder in Mass. It looks good on the rifle and is the only way to get the look I was going for with it...... it attaches just like a regular lamiated stock with the 2 top screws......

If what they have at the store has 45* gas block then it isnt a bugly- most likely it is a Romanian...

that is one of the primary differences......

Bulgy on top- ROmanian on bottom

here is a closer pic of the two- it also shows good detail of each brake and their size difference..

do you know if they sell them anywhere?  I'd really like a fixed AKS stock. (that isn't over $100 )

Don't think Arsenal will install the FSB for you.  I'm still trying to get a gunsmith to free up some time to install mine.  I don't have a press and it isn't coming off without one unless I cut it off.  I got the pins out and heated it up with mapp gas but it doesn't want to move.  Romanian ones will come right off on the ones I worked on.

Isn't AK-USA in FL?  If that is where you are then I bet they could hook you up.
