I'm planning on sending a rifle to a gunsmith for some work.  One of the things I'm having done is having a FS/GB combo installed and having the barrel threaded for 14x1 muzzle devices.  I've never had an AK that didn't have the plunger pin on the sight base that kept the device in place, so I was wondering...

If I have the barrel threaded, is the device secured with a washer of some sort?  He suggested I get the barrel cut down and have a device permanently attached to cut down as much weight and have the shortest barrel legally possible, but I would prefer to be able to switch the muzzle device whenever I want, but I'm not familiar with how it would be secured.

I would ask the gunsmith Im having do the work, but since its the weekend I wont be hearing back from him until Monday at the earliest, and I would prefer to be able to just tell him exactly what I want done before the weekend is over.

Thanks!

You can use a M14 jam nut to secure and/or time the muzzle device.  CNC Warrior carries them.

I just used a 5/8 x 36 crush washer (for 308 barrels)  when I threaded my MAK 90 for a muzzle device. Works great, and I can switch it out for whatever I want to use in the future.

Thanks guys...
It actually seems like a pretty obvious answer now.
