Thanks for taking the time to read this post.  Here is the scenario.  I have an Arsenal SLR-101S (milled) AK 47 that I recently had the magwell expanded from a single stack to a double stack,  The work was done by a very rebuttal gunsmith.  Magazines fit snug and can easily be inserted and removed.  I recently put some new sights on the gun and took it to the range today to zero in.  I only had one magazine with me.  A steel 30rd Bulgarian that I recently purchased brand new from Cope's.  I was zeroing with 5 rounds (South African all brass/copper/non-steel surplus I picked up locally).  Everything worked fine, I shot 25 rounds in 5 round increments.  Magazines could be inserted and removed as normal.  At the end of zeroing I decided to load up 25 rounds and have at it (normally aimed semi-auto fire).  After I finished shooting the 25 rounds I went to remove the magazine and it would not budge.  I had to use two hands and a cloth to exert enough pressure on the mag release tab to get it to pop loose.  Thinking this was a fluke and that I seated the mag wrong, I repeated the process (another 25 rounds) and the same thing happened the mag was stuck.  Where should I start looking for the problem here?

1.  Is it an issue with the magazine?
2.  Is the magazine somehow becoming stuck due to the 25 rounds in a row lodging it somehow?
3.  Does the mag well need to be fixed?

Where would you guys start the troubleshooting at?

Thanks for your help,

Rob

Try other steel mil-surp magazines first. If only one sticks, it's the magazine. If all magazines stick, it's the rifle.

Exactly.  It may be that the locking tab on the magazine is just a little to thick, and the repeated jarring of the 25 rounds caused the mag catch to really clamp down on the locking tab.  I had a similar problem with an SAR-1 that wound up being the magazine catch on the rifle itself was a little too tall and would really clamp down on any mag I tried in it.  I wound up filing just a little bit off the top of the mag catch where it engages the locking tab on the magazines.  No problems now.
