I have an AK that I built from a rommy G on an NDS 3 receiver and realized that my Rommy mags wouldn't fit in the gun right. So I decided that I would try to file down the mag well just a little bit to see if that's what was casusing the problem. Well after tinkering with it for a few hours I decided to check other  mags such as a hungarian, bulgy waffle and chinese flat back. Well this is what I found out.

The romanian mag seems like it is too long to fit in the mag well.

Where as all three, the bulgy waffle, chinese flatback and the hungarian mag all fit perfectly. Maybe this is why people are having problems with guns from Vecter and other manufacturers with mags not fitting properly. Let me know your're opinions.

my experience has shown that not all ak mags are exactly the same. Some fit tighter than others.Even mags from the same country can be a little different. You can more than likely make a few passes with a file to the rear area above the locking tab on the romy mags and make them fit fine.Just a few strokes then try it and keep filing a little and fitting,go easy it usually won,t take much to fix them.

On my builds, I needed to run a strip of sand paper over the top of the mag catch (on the gun). Also needed to run it over the spacer between the trigger guard and into the receiver.

Pull it back and forth a couple swipes, then test mag fit. Do this untill mag locks in.

Don't over do it.

I bought a yugo centry arms mag and stuck it in my NDS-3 reciever and it rubs on the selector switch side of my ak. It seems to go totally in but scratches the hell out of that side of the mag. I was also thinking of taking a file to the the reciever on that side. It doesnt seem to be off much just enough to be a pain in the ass when taking mags out. Anyone else have this problem?

Yugo mag with the bolt hold open follower? If so I found that wouldn't lock in my NDS3 build either. I have 60 some other mags, steel and poly, that work just fine so figured it's the mag.
