I believe they are primarily Hesse receivered and built rifles, and judging by previous experiences with Hesse products, run away!
From what I hear, JoeKen has also got a terrible rep for customer service, but I have not bought anything from them, mainly because of all the bad press. Your best bet is to get either a SAR-2 and dress it up to AK-74 specs or to buy a demilled AK-74 kit from K-Var and have Todd at InRange build it up for you. |

I have one and have had no major problems with it. No extraction failures or anything. The only thing is that some bakelites need to be trimmed in the rear to fit and the numbers don't match. I replaced the original muzzlebrake on it for a real one from Global and put a black bulgarian stock set on it from FAC. I also added a cleaning rod to give it an authentic appearance. The front trunion is the only part that's welded and it doesn't look like its going to fall apart anytime soon. Even if it does, I think it can be cleaned up and riveted on the same receiver with no problems.

Maybe I need to knock some cobwebs out of my head.......I really meant Troy at Inrange.
 I have a buddy who couldn't wait for a built '74 and bought one of the Hesse rifles, and he is getting fairly cosistent fairlures to eject. |

It's the rail inside of the receiver eroding away. I have read that this is a common issue with their receivers because some are not heat treated properly, but is simple to fix. Search on ak47.net by typing in "hesse" and scroll down to find a thread about the same problem for a better explanation and instructions on how to fix it.

good old fayettinam is not to bad but Nevada rocks my wife has been to asheville and said it is nice where do you shoot at??

I go to Rex's located in Hendersonville. It's the only indoor range around here that allows rifles. I also have a friend with property that we use sometimes. How is it where you shoot at?

jimtash9 you may want to check out Cain Creek Range in Rutherford county, about an hour away. $5 for each gun and it goes out to 500 yards not just 25.
