What kind of AK would you buy. I am looking for a great  gun, not cheap looking or cheap built gun. I have found a Polytech Legend  around 98 to 99% with everything in the box for that. TY guys for the help

I would buy a green dress.  But not a real green dress, that's cruel.

The double underfolder you were looking at sounds good if you like chicom guns.

Hmmm.... hopefully I won't get flamed for this, but I wouldn't spend $1200 on an AK-type rifle.  And, I don't think that the Polytech Legends look all that fantastic.  The only reason they fetch the big $$$ is because of their pre-ban status.  [The time to have bought one was BEFORE the import ban, not now!!]  A Norinco MAK-90 converted over with whatever stock set you want (and the proper number of U.S. compliance parts to make it legal) results in a rifle that's just as good for a lot less money.  Hey... just my opinion!!

Comedy.  Song reference.  Not too obscure, but too obscure for here, it would seem.

For $1200, I'd look into one of the reputable builders, and get me a 7.62 and a 5.45 model.

For all the talk about "authentic" AK's, and how the OOW receivers aren't truly spec, it seems that they aren't any more "out of spec" than all the different AK building countries that all did things differently themselves (Chinese vs. Russian vs. Egyptian vs. Whoever).

At about $600 each, you should be able to find two that meet your needs, and are of good quality and good finish.

Maybe  I will just wait for Josh to build one for me, But I do like stuff that is getting harder to find and will have a history like the Polytechs hmmm. Maybe I will get one of each. Polytech now and other build for later. Ty guys for the info, keep feeding me. I found a few other Legends out there for sell at $1100 to $1200 with the milled recivers. I have not got a response from the guy selling the double folder yet or no pics. soon I will have something. thanks again guys time to go to work

It all depends if you are looking for a collector piece or a shooter.  If you are looking just for a shooter there are tons of quality AK's out there new and old.  If you are a collector any of the pre-ban Chinese would be a good investment since they will never be imported again.

Ding, Ding, Ding!  We have a winner!

ETA:  If I had $1200... I'd either buy an M1-A or Colt 6920.  Sorry but that is what I want right now...

Personally I would get a Poly or a Arsenal SAM 7 classic  . Both in the Milled . WarDawg

Another vote for Poly either stamped or milled, both are good.

I'd probably try to build an AK-101 clone, using Russian parts and magazines. Another option would be to get a Bulgarian AK-74 and an AK-103 clone.
