O.K. I've got the center support in place. When I put the rivit thru it sticks out about 1/4 of a inch, is this what I need????. Now what is the best method to set rivit???. Should I peen it down with a hammer or should I use my 12 ton press????.  Thanks for your ideas.hippie.gifhug.gif

Hammer works best for me, I've tryed using my press but had more control with the hammer. 1/4 inch sounds about right. I just hope its not a Tapco rivet.

1/4-inch sounds long to me...  I would think that needs to be trimmed down a little to get a nice head but I need some more practice with these before I am really qualified to say that...  The ones I had seen done were about or just over 1/8-inch and they looked pretty good.

I also do these with a hammer...  slow and steady with firm blows with a hammer.

I do mine with a hammer. 1/4 inch sound a little long.  Two words of advice.  TAPCO Rivets,  just say no. only good thing about them is if you mess up putting it in just pull on it it will come right out.  Oh yea if you use the hammer method"DO NOT MISS"  It makes some ugly looking marks on a receiver.  As to how I know I will have to take the 5th on that one.
