The one I got from Tantal a while back required drilling two holes in the receiver and attaching with screws from the inside. Pretty simple. Measure twice, cut once rule applies.

It screws in place from the inside.

Last question what do they run from tantal?
I know I have to send him an email for pricing so just curious.
Also does anybody else stock them?

I bought it a while back. I think it was $20-25.

OK that's not bad at all.
I was looking at my 74, and it seems to me that there are two rivets where the screws would go to secure the optic plate in.

You can also buy rivet models from Tantal - the downside?  You will need to remove an existing rear trunion rivet - and watch which mount you get.  Differences in the 74 and 47 RTs mean that a '74 side plate generally won't fit a '47.  Tantal has a model that DOES.

I've used both the retrofit screw in models, and the rivet models.  In the end?  I prefer riveting.  Plinker's jig can even be stretched to do this...  though it clearly wasn't designed to :)
