I have a kit inbound and no existing piece to reference from.

Does anyone have any guidelines on how to locate/fix a standard combloc left-side scope mount to a stamped 74 receiver?

Thanks,

Use a machinist ruler to measure the ""top to bottom"" from the front on the mount to the rear mount  to keep it level with the top rail.....
It is that easy...hard part is making it stick when you drill the holes...
Very simular to installing the bolt guide rails on a bent reciver before spot welding where you use a drill bit to insure that the gap remains the same from the front to rear....
To make sure you have the right height...install the scope and see how much clearance you have to your dust cover and adjust accordenly
Hope that helps..
