So I got an AMD kit from a really great guy. Problem is he drilled the front trunnion in a different spot than the rivet hole. Well after doing the Pookie BFH barrell removal all those rivets just toppled right out (except for the one he was drilling next to)... I have an extra hole now, it doesn't go all the way in it's about 2 cm shy of the inside of the trunnion/chamber. So what do you think, is this trunnion still usable?

I'll try to post a url to a picture tonight... you can see the resulting scratches on the barrel and trunnion but not the extra hole at:

First a view of the barrell after BFH removal, the metal showing was like this before the BFH.

Second some scratches left by the vice...

Finally you can see where the top part of the trunnion was mooshed at some point just above the rail slot... yuck, I figure I can clean that up, it's not as deep as it looks...

Fire away fellas, this is my first build and I don't have a press...

I would say the trunion is fine. The hole doesn't go into the barrel, right? Also, look's like the barrel pin was drilled out. That will need to be removed before you press the barrel back in.

I guess I am not seeing the extra hole, but if the "extra" hole is going to be covered by the receiver and it doesn't intrude into the barrel/chamber then I would say you would have no problem using this trunnion.  So what I am trying to say is that if you have 6 good rivet holes and one "extra hole that didn't do any damage and will be covered by the receiver then by all means, use this trunnion.

Here the picture of the 3rd hole....

By the way the pin wasn't drilled, I used pookie's vice method. Which by the way I figured out that if you get pressure on the pin and things aren't moving just tap on the body of the vice with a hammer and POP! that suckers starts moving from the vibration!!!

The pictures work for me...  so the last hole towards the right is the "extra" hole while the one with the metal in it is the hole were the rivet was supposed to go (at least I think that is what I see... also, I believe you are saying that this last hole does not go all the way through the trunion...

If so, just remove the old rivet and build her... she looks fine!

Here is a pic of my AMD-65 front trunion (best I have online) to show correct holes...
