There's a guy with an add in a paper selling a MAK 90 with a hellfire trigger. I'm interested and the price is good, but I'm not sure what that is. Does anyone know?

Well, dont give him any more simply because it has a hellfire on it. Worthless PoS.

Basically it is a spring that sits behind the trigger and allows easier bumpfiring but does not interfere with the normal operation of the trigger itself. That being said if he did manage to get it to work then he has probably destroyed the barrel on that Mak.

300 tops

Thanks. I was afraid it was something like that.

Afraid of what?

It's just a stupid gimmick that attaches to the trigger gaurd and has spring to help Bump fire. just check the bore, if it looks ok buy it.

After having installed a Hellfire trigger on my AK a long time ago I will agree it is a POS

Never could get it to work right, bought one for my AK and one for my AR still have one in the box for my AR15 and there it will stay.

I bought a "Hellfire" a long time ago. It worked just fine, used it on an AK, AR, M11 and an Uzi Carbine. But you can do the same thing with just your finger and a little practice. And a light trigger helps too.

Since the AK was designed as an automatic weapon, it's unlikely that the barrel is damaged. Check it as you would any used rifle.

MAK-90's are far from POS junk IMO.  As far as stamped AK's go, Chinese versions are the nicest that I've ever used.  I really like my MAK-90 and I feel that for the money, there is no better AK variant out there (unless you find some super rare case where the seller does not know what he's got and sells it for 15 years ago price).

Check out the gun, if it is in good shape and the price is good, certainly go for it.  The hellfire trigger attachment (as said above) should not influence your purchase at all.  If you clean your AK after shooting, and haven't put 20,000 rounds through it, it should be fine shooting slow or rapid.

MAK90s are nice, the slant cut receivers are somewhat less desireable, but other than that they are fine.

Hellfire triggers are absolute garbage, they are a bumpfire aid, and aren't even all that good doing that, you can learn to bump fire just as easily without them.

While AKs are designed for full auto, it is very hard on the barrels. The intense heat in the chamber is very destrutcive to the barrel. Any AK that has been fired on full auto alot will have throat erosion. It may not be enough to cause a large decrease in accuracy, but it might, the only way to know is to take it to the range and fire it.

The guy is making it sound like it doubles the value of the rifle. I'm not afraid of the trigger, just leary of paying extra (a lot extra) for something that really doesn't interest me that much.

Think people are refering to the Hellfire as POS not the rifle.

tell him your interested in the rifle but not the hellfire. ask for a price on just the rifle and he can keep the hellfire and see what he says. make him an offer for just the rifle.

I don't know what a Hellfire costs now, but the last time I saw them at a gunshow they were about $30, so unless they have went way up in price a used one can't be increasing the value of the package much more than $20.
