So, I'm wondering if its possible to fix slightly misaligned barrel threads. The story is that the threads work fine with a short slant brake, no bullets hitting the device at all, standard craptakular AK accuracy. However I put on one of the AK-74 style devices from tapco IIRC, and the bullet appears to be striking the bottom edge of that brake, and I see sideways boolits on the paper at like 5 yards (can't see em further than that since they are way off the paper) So I'm wondering if its possible to fix it. Also this is on a Sar-1 so the barrel isn't drilled perfectly straight (i.e. the muzzle hole isn't perfectly centered relative to the outside radius of the bbl) so I'm wondering if thats not the problem. Or any ways to fix it? (I realize I could bore out the front of the AK-74 style brake but I'm wondering if that wouldn't affect the function) any answers appreciated. |
The brake appears totally fine looking externally. However the bore isn't concentric (a bit low) and if I put a cleaning rod through it it rubs a very very slight bit on the brake bottom right at the opening. sounds like it could be fixed using a lathe tho. |
