Externally they look the same, but the internals of the lever spring are slightly different.

I'm going to assume that they will both work with a Romy kit. My EG folder is on an EG kit, and my Tantal folder is on a Tantal kit. So I can't say I'm 100% sure.
I'll see if I can dig at the rifles tomorrow to get the exact descriptions of what is different. I'm tired and I'm off to bed.

I pulled my rifles out and got to looking at them in more detail. Sorry I'm not ripping them apart for detailed pics.
The basic difference between the two as far as the internals are concerned, are that the spring on the Tantal is actual part of the plate that slides into the receiver. The EG has a seperate spring from the plate, and it also has a cross pin that helps retain the lever and spring within the plate. Does that make sense? |

Sure that makes perfect sense..
I also thought there was a subtle difference in the Tantal rear trunnion, which would also be reflected in the stock.. perhaps not. Thanks, -L |

You're correct in the subtle difference. The rear tang for the trunion has 2 holes in it for roll pins that get knocked down into the stock. At least that is what I remember doing.

On a slightly different note, I did discover a detail difference between the DDR and Romanian folders.. the DDR unit has a 1" sling swivel! What a PITA. Now I have to drill & punch out that rivet, and re-install a standard swivel.. where am I going to get the correct rivet?? [>:/] -L |
