| Today I called my local gunshop and was checking the price of bullets. They told me they had packs of 10 for a dollar. Then they told me that the bullets contained a plastic core. I want to know have any of you seen or heard of these. How are they different from the regular lead core bullets. Please provide any insight possible. Thanks in advance, Regards EJ. |

Plastic cored ammo in packs of 10 sounds like East German surplus training ammo, which was pretty prevalent as recent as a year or two ago. It was packaged ten per pack in yellowish-clear "blister pack" glued to a yellowed paper backing. It is training ammo, and with the lightweight bullet has limited range. It IS just as dangerous as standard jacketed lead bulleted ammo, and WILL penetrate flesh and WILL kill. It is also corrosive, but proper cleaning is no big deal. IMO, it is a collector curiosity only, and not suitable for shooting. Your dealer's pricing is fairly reasonable, because I've seen small amounts of this priced by hopeful, optimistic sellers at several dollars a pack on the net. IMO, walk on by. Noah |

Ej, the ammo has little value other than maybe some collector value. I saw it sold a few years ago as "anti-terrorist" ammo though! It is only training ammo. It will not cycle in many guns although it does in the few of mine that I have tried. I think the bullet is 60 grains hollow plastic core. It has almost no recoil and is fun to shoot if your gun works with it, but otherwise not very usefull. |
