There was a picture posted about a week or so ago in AK-GD. It took out a ground hog pretty well.
RS39 and I shot it and found it to pattern like a shotgun and not group like a rifle. |

Ober and I like to shoot...but did not even bother to finish the sp box of ammo that day. Your mileage may vary.....

I let a frinds son shoot up the rest of the case. We used less than 20 rounds. I gave the rest away to a 13 year old kid.

IIRC, it was OK, but not as good as FMJ. I think both Barnaul and WOlf FMJ beat it. |

OK, that with the fact that here in AZ I'd have to cut down one of my mags to a 5 rounder leaves me thinking that 5.45 would not be a good choice for hunting.

Someone posted a picture of a deer they killed with the 5.45 last year. Said it dropped in it's tracks. I wouldn't even try with any .22 caliber round unless I was desperate.
For smaller critters, there are better choices. |

This is specifically for Javelina, I'll just go with the .223.
