Here's my latest build. AMMS kit built on a AKB flat with the usual compliance parts. Parked and moly coated too.

Wow, that's just too nice. Send it to me, I'll put a good field-finish on it...

That looks awesome. i'm waiting on my Nodak receiver to arrive to start the build. My AMMS is one of the new never fired demilled kits...i think i'll only have to finish the receiver...not sure what kind of finish is on the rest of it though....

From what I read the finishes have varied on the Hungys. This one had black paint over park. The sight leaf was left in park and the numbers painted white. The sight leaf spring and grip screw were just parked as well on the kit pieces.

But when I slid the cleaning rod out the paint went "PFFTTT!" and shaved off into dust.
I doubt it would have held up well over time.
So I bead blasted everything, mag parked it and them moly coated it and baked it. Looks factory, but is much tougher than factory now. I left the sight leaf alone as the gray park won't glare.

I have a 85 and a 65 kit too. They seem to have the same paint over park finish.

The NDS receivers are awesome to build on! I'm a big fan. My next project will be my Hungy 85 kit on a NDS 1 receiver and a full set of Beech furniture from Iron Wood!  (Drool!)

Guys - what is the coating on the metal on those new amms kits?  Its not just park I don't think...

Also I'm going to have to resand the furniture ...its a little tweaked although the gun is new. Is it a polyurethane on it? Doesn't look like just oil....

I would call it some sort of cheap soft paint over a thin layer of mag parkerizing.

Gun bore cleaner solvents dissolve it readily.

My guess is some sort of baked lacquer maybe?

If someone knows for sure, I'd love to know. But it's still poor paint. Better to refinish with better more modern paints like moly or GC!
