Does the ak buffer really help? will it add life to your gun?

I had one disintegrate while I was using it.  Because it was an AK, I didn't know there was an issue until I got it home and took the dust cover off and saw blue poly shit all over the inside of the action.

I was less than impressed.

M. Kalashnikov was certainly familiar with buffers, the Soviet PPSh-41 uses a buffer, and I find it telling that Kalashnikov never thought there was a need for them in his rifles............

Do you think all those AK's used around the world have buffers in them?

You do get the bolt banging against the rear trunnion occasionally.  You dont get it always.  There was a vid of an AK firing and only a moderate percentage of the time did the bolt actually touched the trunnion.  

As stated, millions of AKs function forever, without any buffer and minimal failures.

got one on my WUM-1, put a few thousand rounds through it, can't tell the carrier has hit the buffer.  I'm sure it's just a $15 gimic.
