I was cleaning my SAR-1 tonight, and I scoped the bore with a light and from the gas port to the muzzle, I noticed some rough looking marks in the barrel, now, I'm not sure wether it is serious copper fouling that I just can't get out, if it is pitting, or just some serious scratches. I can't tell what it is, personally, but I'm pretty damn sure it isn't rust, because a good brush would brush most of it out. It looks like deep gouges in the chrome, but maybe it's just severe copper fouling. Any insight, or has this been seen before?

Might be scratches from your cleaning rod, just a thought

Someone suggested that, but they seem to be right in the groove, right next to the edge of the land, and they follow the twist.

Sounds like copper fouling, try some sweets 7.62 solvent.

You are the second person to tell me to try Sweets 7.62. I will go tommorow and hunt for some and give it a shot. It seems more and more like copper fouling the more I think about it.

try the sweets...and EASY on any brushing. let the chemical reaction do the work.

my guess is you are seeing copper streaking.

But do not soak copper remover long in a chrome bbl. Micro pores in the chrome let the remover in, and the copper boundry layer that bonds the bbl/chrome flakes eventually.
