After being through droughts, I don't want to curse rain, but my main thought this weekend was
Saturday, the pits were prepped and then the rain came fast and moderate. Most pullers waited in the target shed. I left my gear on the line exposed; only worrying about my data book and scorecards, but Mr. Langham gave it shelter in his truck. Others were at least covered for us. There was another shower due in the early afternoon, so we gave up. Sunday required roping in a couple dads to make two Legs. It was misty/sprinkly most of the day, but it got done. The wind came from behind, alternating left and right no more than half value. The flags occasionally lifted off the pole or stirred; I didn't see mirage lie more than 30*. Attached File Attached File Attached File Attached File Attached File 1st place was a 491. In 3rd or 4th, Justin Utley shot a 490 "with irons". High leg was a 484, low leg a 482, 1st Leather a 478. |

This was P-lucky (P-Tactical scope, plucky) Carbine's first outing XTC.
Attached File I had planned to use Saturday to test the Nikon 3x32's BDC. Instead on Sunday, I wanted to confirm come ups that I got with the Ultradot. 100-200yds, 2.0 MOA 200-300yds, 3.0 MOA 100-600yds, 18.0 MOA My 100yd bench zero was a bit low. 200yds required 4.5 MOA up. Natural point of aim is trickier than with a rifle. Offhand, impacts were right of call, so I gave it 1 MOA left. I wasn't steady and took more time than usual, but didn't realize how many 10s I'd shot and rested a little longer for the last shot only to watch the targets hide. 87/100 with a miss. Good > "perfect". Attached File |

Sitting was a mess. My wobble reverted to 12:00-6:00 mid 9 to mid 9.
I put my 2 round mag in my coat pocket, but subconsciously grabbed the 8 round as I rose. I fired 2 shots, dropped the mag and wondered why the bolt was closed. I pulled it back, jacked that round out, and spent a long 5 seconds figuring out what happened and how to correct it. Slapped the 8 round Mad Mag in and went at it. The sight pictures looked like poo - mostly left, but the result would have been fine without that 1 MOA left. Attached File |

My sling was a little tight at 300yds. I just raised the stock to correct NPoA, but wobble and trigger control seemed to suffer. I still hadn't gone back to No Wind ("what's 9+10? - 21? You stupid!").
3 MOA is a good comeup. Attached File Attached File |

I smartened up on wind, but went dumb on 600yd elevation; not counting the extra 2.5 MOA.
1st shot was a nice 6:00 6. I went 3 MOA up and didn't look at elevation again. Shot #3 was a slamfire. I keep the stock in my shoulder, so it went past the 500yd firing line. I never had problems with CCI 400s til this year (about 10 on). Attached File At home, I struggle with the black reticle on dark targets - here the targets were a hazy grey providing decent contrast. Only once did the wind pickup and catch me off guard, not that much guard was needed. The other non-10s were me. I think my coat loosened up a tiny bit during the string, making NPoA drift left. 20.5 - 2.5 = 18 MOA from 100yds. About what JBM Ballistics predicts. I've had 17.25-18 at Oklahoma City, so that jives with the lower altitude and humid conditions. Aggregate was 452/500 despite me (with extra wind on, a saved round, and slamfire). That's why I call it Plucky. Attached File |

I put a March on an A4 upper I built and zeroed two Christmases ago and fired in only one match. Looking forward to seeing what everyone else sees after transitioning from irons with a Bob Jones lens.

I'm tossing around the idea of building up something similar to your P-Lucky, and was wondering what handguard you are using on it. |

That's not actually a 452, that's a 462 score.

Actually should've been a 451, but Offhand had a misdisc'd shot that was agreed upon and corrected, then after the next shot, Dave came over "The previous shot was a teein", and my scorer counted the recent one as a 10 instead of 9. |

Posting some nice scores with the optic. Sure like the budget price. Can give us a pro vs cons review? In future when budget allows like to build a rifle length FN A4 with either the SWFA SS 1-4x24 or the Nikon 3x32. It's on the wish list to complete the rifle length trifecta. |

Working on an article. I think I just need to do a tall box test and try it on an A4.
Quick pro/con: Pro - Price Tracking (for 3 months at mostly short range) Compact Con - Magnification/reticle/non-illumination Big knobs Only one (maybe two) 1-pc mount fits |

I'm sure someone there at Carthage would have suggested CCI 450's or rem 7 1/2 instead.
