I custom built the rifle when I worked for DPMS ive been reading about this a lot lately and can not come up with a worthy conclusion that one is better then the other. the 6.5 has a small edge being shorter and not having issues being loaded in a standard mag. but thats about all ive found which could possibly sway a choice. |

I custom built the rifle when I worked for DPMS they are pretty close ballistically so I think that is a wash. I went with the .260 for a couple of reasons. the rifle and mags are made for .308 win, and the .260 is just a necked down .308 so reliability (IMO)is a bit higher the less drastic shoulder angle is also inherently more reliable and smoother feeding in a semi. (i'm not saying the CM is NOT reliable, but all things being equal, the .260 has an edge) a big one is that as component supply has fluctuated over the last several years, I can always get .260 brass by taking ANYthing in the .308 family and necking it up or down to .264 with ease. THEY say that the CM is better in a semi because it can load the 140gr bullets to mag length however I run primarly the 140gr Berger VLDs to mag length just fine with the .260. |

Nikon Monarch 4-16x50 Very impressed with both the shooting and the ability to build a semi auto capable of those groups. A good barrel is important, but it takes a lot more than a good barrel to do that. I share the same opinions about the 260 vs 6.5 cm debate, but it's much harder to argue with someone getting the kind of performance you are THEY cranked up the marketing to 11 for the 6.5 cm while the 260 Remington survives on it's own merits and that is the only significant difference between the two. |

We usually load her 5 rounds at a time so I'm thinking we had 2 misses edited out of the beginning for the sake of video length. I would have to look at the logs to know for sure. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zhQoH7IIzK4 I also recently shot the moa all day challenge. I was happy with the score I fired, but after I was done I had 9 rounds left so I went ahead and fired these 2 groups. First group is 5 shots and the damn flyer is the last round of the group. The second group is only 4 shots. http://s15.postimg.org/3xeapzykb/IMG_0717.jpg http://s27.postimg.org/3vcz812fn/IMG_0718.jpg I'm more proud of this one though. This is my wife shooting at the same 861 yard location again with her same ar15, but on a different day with some of the most brutal winds I think we've shot this far in with a 223. This time was with a 10" plate. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=20bhecqkYbE Here are our logs from that video so you get an accurate idea of what happened. At the time I could see the hits, but had no idea where at on the plate. That is why we didn't adjust elevation down to try and hit closer to center of the plate. We were trying to shoot during the let offs those gusts were brutal. I didn't have my 260 with us. We were collecting the initial data on her new barrel so this was the first time at distance with the new barrel as well. We were out the day before though to check zero at 100 yards and then tested at 200 yards and 410 yards. http://s28.postimg.org/otwvu4o3x/IMG_0606.jpg View Quote Buddy that is... awesome |

In the first 25 rounds of load work up on a brand new Bergara HMR pro 6.5. Easily the most accurate rifle I have ever fired pic below is 3 shots at 100 yards. IIRC the best 5 shot has been .35” at 100
