I recently obtained my first 6.5 creedmoor rifle. It is laser accurate with 125/129/130 class bullets but sadly so far it doesn’t seem to like 140 gr match bullets. It shoots them under an inch at 100 but just barely. It loves 129SSTs with H4350 shooting 1/2-3/4” groups at 200 yards. It also loves The Winchester 125XP factory load. So far my 140gr sample size is relatively small only trying 140 Barnes “match burners” and Hornady 140 BTHP bullets with 2 different powders but several different powder charges.

Try the Hornady 147 ELD Match.  I have a barrel that likes them much better than the 140's.

I’ll have to get some and try them. Playing with 130 tipped matchkings today.

I'd try the Berger 140 hybrids and the 142smk.

They are both lasers out any of the rifles I own and others I shoot with.

I was pleasantly surprised by the Hornady 140 ELD-Ms.

The 140 ELD-Ms work the best in my AR. The 147's don't shoot quite as well, and it's easier to spot hits with the 140's. Either will get me out well-past a 1000m.

A 6.5 CM that doesn't like 140 bullets?  It can't be! Have you tried any of the factory 140gr offerings?

The only bullet I shoot out of my 6.5's/.260's is the 139gr Scenar.  You want an excellent projectile that is super easy to load for?  They're not readily available (like go to your local and grab them off the shelf), but damn do they work.  I couldn't imagine the Scenar not working in any 6.5 chambered rifle.

Shoot 130s.

Guys get too horney over b.c numbers.

A 130 berger AR hybrid or 130 ELD-M going 2850-2900 will fly straighter than a 140 going 2650-2750 out to further than 80% of shooters actually shoot.

Some might say the 130 weight class is better suited for the 260 Rem/ CreamHorn/ 6.5x47 catagory than the 140 unless you are doing 1000+ on a regular basis.

I did a test on my tikka 6.5 from 2.825 to 2.925 which is .020 off with the 140 elds.  5 shot groups. It went something like .75-1-1-1-.50

I continue to shoot the 2.925 load with maybe 8-900 rounds through it. It’s way past the book load but there are no pressure signs.

Well it seems to like 130 Tipped Matchkings. I guess I’ll stick with them for now while I work on more 140 grain loads to try. Would have been really nice without that one flyer.

Progress has been made!!! I guess it just didn’t like the Barnes match burner bullet I was using before. At best the Barnes would shoot .900” at 100.

1. Berger 140  Elite Hunter
2. Hornady 140 ELD-M

Load with 41.5 to 42.1 grains H4350.
Hornady brass, full length sized with only enough of a bump to push back headspace a full thou on your shortest brass after firing.
Bullet loaded as long as will fit in an AICS PMAG and function.
Federal Gold Medal Match large rifle primers.

Guarantees instant nirvana, single digit SD, and just over 2700 fps.

I suggest loading longer and more powder if you use Hornady brass.
