One reason to buy a Redding Type S Full Length Sizing die - you control how much sizing is applied to the neck.  Typically a few thousandths reduction from the fired size is all that is needed.  Conventional dies do a lot more than this and rely on the expander ball to return the neck to a usable size, cold working the brass and limiting case life in the process.

Get the carbide expander ball option, too.  Sizing is a lot easier with it than without it.

That they are excellent in all other regards is a bonus.

I use Forster dies because they will custom hone your neck dimension for a nominal fee. They are every bit as good as Redding's dies, Redding even copied their seater.

If you have a semi-auto you will want the neck diameter honed to .004" smaller than your loaded round neck measurement. If you are going to use the ammo in a bolt action -.003" is more than plenty.

Short Action Customs dies are the best I’ve ever used. I wish I would have started with them instead of wasting money on Redding, RCBS, Wilson, Forster, and Hornady.

Buy once cry one.
