Hey Guys,

Got a new Ruger SR-22 Rifle, I'm at the range and on my 9th shot hit a problem.  I racked the bolt to clear the gun and out came the spent case, the extractor, the extractor spring, and the extractor plunger. I purchased this rifle as factory new condition on gunbroker. I have 2 10/22's and thousands of rounds through both of them and never a problem. This just seems odd that a new gun would fail right out of the gate. I just went through an issue on another "new" purchase, where the the bolt head was crapped on and it obviously had some miles on it. The vendor replaced it, but this is making me skeptical.

There doesn't appear to be any damage on any for the parts. It's not like the extractor broke off, or the bolt was damaged. I have not taken the gun down yet, as it's a real PIA. Wanted to get your thoughts. Is this something normal that happens with these ruger bolts? Or should I send this back to the seller?

thanks

I'd call Ruger.

It is not unheard of for a 10/22 or Ruger MK pistol to have the extractor come out of the bolt. I would inspect it for damage then reinstall it if everything looks good. You can install them with the bolt still in the receiver you don't have to disassemble. If it stays in the bolt and feels fine pivoting in its slot i would test fire it.

If it continues to have problems i would contact Ruger.
