Finally found enough time to get back into reloading.  I am new but have loaded roughly 200 rounds of 308 last year.

Anyway, I have a bunch of PPU 5.56 brass I kept and remember from reloading my PPU 308 brass that everyone told me to reduce my minimum and max charges by 2 grains.  Does the same or similar go for this PPU 5.56?

I am working with:
PPU 5.56 brass
.224 62gr ss109 pulls from rmr
and most likely CFE 223 powder

I have varget but since it doesnt meter worth a darn I will use the cfe 223.  Please let me know what loads you guys are using and if I need to go lower due to the PPU brass, Thanks!

I think Motor or someone had me fill one of the 308's up with water and weigh the water.  I dont have any other brass though.

I recall it being on the heavier end, about 100gr vs 93. Not sure about actual capacity though.

I weighed a few and 98gr seems to be avg with total filled weight of 130gr.  I weighed some pmc range pic ups still dirty and they are avg 96gr but smaller capacity.

Anyone have any suggestions on where to start based on these numbers?

I seem to remember regarding the 7.62 Nato to reduce starting and max loads by 2 gr or 10%?

read book or go to the hodgdon.com website. they have load data there. start a couple grains low and work up.

The rule of thumb for .308 to 7.62 is 1.0gr per 10gr weight. Comm cases tend to weigh in the 160s, mil in the 180s, hence 2.0gr reduction.

0.5gr less for your cases is a safe start.

I'm about to use a pile of PPU 556 brass for my first attemp to load some SPR ammo.
After reading through this and remembering my previous trip into pressure no man's land, I thought, better weigh some of them.

Average weight was 96.5 gr (fired w/o primer), average water capacity was 30.5 gr
Compared to some numbers I've found online this seems pretty equivalent to commercial brass to me.

Lots are from 2016 and 2017, with the 2017 showing bigger SD/ES.

Sometimes getting the primer to pop out is a chore.  Takes a pass or two through the decapper.

The base of the case is thicker than most others.  Only Wolf comes close to being that thick.
