Can anybody tell me what the optimal weight bullet is for a 1:10 twist 24 inch barrel in .308? I currently use Sierra Matching 175 grain bullets and they are working well. But I would like feedback on what others are using in a 1:10 barrel. Also I am shooting at 500+ yds.
Thanks

For B.C. to gyroscopic stability ratio, probably the 208gr ELD. Factoring magazine length, case capacity, and that greater recoil can make more "corner shots", the 168-190gr range may be preferred.

Sierra 175 + 190gr MKs and Hornady 178gr BTHPs are old school freight trains. The TMKs, ELDs, and Berger Hybrids and 185gr Juggernaut are newer designs.

On the lighter end of things, I use Berger 155.5 fullbore bullets, their g1 is .475, over my load of VVH N-150 at sea level I was getting 2812FPS.  They are basically lasers, the ballistic drop at 500 yards is 2.4 mil, and at 1000 yds 8.6 mil.

They seem to go subsonic at around 1100 yds, accuracy drops off.  For shorter ranges accuracy is great.

ETa. Rifle is Sako TRG with a 26 inch barrel 1:10

I've had good luck with the FGMM loaded with this bullet.

I’ve shot 190gr. SMKs through my 10FP LE2b and they did fine at 100 yards.

I stick with 155s-185s for the most part and it loves it all!
