Parts for the Mk13/Remington 700s in .300 Win Mag, firing pin assemblies and adjustable triggers.  I had left these parts in Baghdad back in 16'.  They were still in the same bags with my hand writing as I'm cleaning up the old shop since I just returned this week.

This is going to be an awesome build, congrats on getting these parts! Stiller has has the absolute worst backorder times for the Mk13 receivers, so hopefully you won't have to wait too much longer. Please keep us updated with the build, I definitely want to see pics of the finished rifle! Do you have a scope and silencer yet? Which ones are you planning on using?

Yeah - been waiting almost a year now for the action. I was told my action is one of the last 50 that will be marked "Garland, TX" - they will be changing the markings after that since Stiller was recently acquired by Horizon Firearms.

As far as the accessories go - I have the Surefire RC2 in FDE already and though it's technically not the correct generation of RC, it's pretty damn close and aesthetically it looks 95% the same, so I can live with that.

Optics wise probably going with a black ATACR 5-25 with Tremor 3 reticle.

To everyone asking for the Mod 5 barrel prints, they're out there, but you're probably not going to find people to help you. The gunsmiths that have them guard them closely because it took a lot of hard work to acquire a copy and it's also something that can be used to draw in customers by behing able to correctly cut a barrel. I still have no idea why they keep asking for the prints, the vast majority of people asking for them aren't even gunsmiths. I've had dozens of collectors ask me for the Mod 5 prints (which I do have), but I won't give them out. This is the only Mod 5 print I will post.

This actually helps. I wanted the print to be able to give to a smith for a slightly off the wall build idea I am throwing around my head. If I just need to find a smith that has the print and provide them with a barrel blank then that makes my job easier because I don't need to find a competent and willing gunsmith.

Send your build to Chris Higgins at Red Bull Armory, he does tons of Mod 5 100% spec clone builds. As a Navy SEAL he carried the Mod 5, as a Crane armorer he invented the Mod 7. People who want to do a build need to send their parts to a guy who specializes in this exact stuff. Far too often do I see people have a local smith or a friend try to build them a clone and the rifles always ends up being fixed by a guy like Chris. Trust me, it will be worth it.

Yeah - RW Snyder is good to go - he built my Mod 5 - definitely knows them well.

Chris at Red Bull is currently building a Mod 7 for me (and whenever Stiller ships my action he can finish it).

Both reputable builders that know their shit.

I’m starting a m24a2 project and looking for a badger ordnance m5 m24a2 (p/n 306-85?) trigger guard and a m24 trigger if anyone has extras they want to let go of. I already contacted B/O for old stock and was told they are sold out with no plans of future runs. Also trying to avoid gunbroker as I missed the cheaper triggers over the last weeks and the trigger guards seem to be all being snatched up by RWS. I’ll go this route if I have to by others suggestions, I’m not overly familiar with this market and availability of parts.

Thanks for those of you who have already helped me out through messenger! Hope to contribute in the future.

* got the trigger and trigger guard, no longer looking for one.

Just go with GB. You won’t find a trigger anywhere else for under $300.  $4-500 for the bottom metal without a mag is steep but it is what it is. Atleast they are NOS.

JFE did say they have a bunch of mags for the BMs but they won’t be put up on GB for a few more weeks.
Link Posted: 11/20/2022 2:06:06 PM EDT
[#34]
Thanks, is there a way to follow jfe? I’ve messaged them a few times over stuff I’ve bought but comms seem to be spotty and not always agreeing with what they list. I’m not trashing them, just asked about parts, they said they were out then listed exact stuff the next day.

The cheapest triggers on GB are currently $375 plus fees and shipping will put it over $400. Is this still a good price?

Not trying to be cheap, I know it’s a pretty expensive rifle to complete, just my pockets are not as deep as others here. And again I don’t know the market well enough to know this is only chance you don’t pass it up / stupid prices of people asking Covid price If that makes sense.

Again thanks in advance!

They’re comms aren’t the best and whoever runs the GB account does not do a very good job. I got a NIB m3 mk4 3.5-10 for $700 with no other bids because they labeled it “leopold scope” with no other description. Same thing with getting a couple of NOS A2 uppers for <$200 labeled as “carry handle upper”

I got both of my trigger for under $300 each. Just have to be patient, but at the same time you never know when they post their last one.

$400? Not great, not terrible. Depends on how bad or soon you need one.

I’m in no rush because I’m not going to have enough money for everything right now but trying to secure the hardest parts at the minute. My biggest concern with the trigger guard and trigger is I don’t want to regret passing up todays high prices being tomorrows deals and impossible parts to find.

Prices won't go down unless Marty does another run which, it sounds like, isn't in the cards. Just FWIW buying the trigger guard from BO ran me ~$360. There's a variety of buyers but know that paying $700 for the bottom metal is a steal as it jumps to 200%+ the value once it's installed and you're looking at a $250-350 premium for being late to the party. As far as getting in while the gettin's good, Ron may still be sitting on a few extra M24 cans which are $750 from him and $2500+ second hand.

Speaking of M24A2 mags... Mile High has them in stock.  They seem to go in an out of stock so many no need to jump on that.

Thanks this is the kind of info I need. Ive already messaged Ron and waiting to hear if I can get an extra or not, or be put on the list for a future run.

I won a trigger guard this morning, about $550 after fees and shipping it’s part of the game I suppose. Besides cost never seem to matter once the parts are in hand. Just a part of the labor of love with clones.

Well what started off as a drunken bid on GB for a g prefix m24 receiver has multiplied into this collection of parts for a M24a2. I have sourced everything  through gunbroker so I wouldn’t say I have gotten great prices after shipping and fees, but not to bad either. I’m waiting to hear back from Ron to see if he has any m24 suppressors available in this batch, if not I’ll be ordering a barrel and stock up next.

I must say though after reading through this entire thread this week I kinda wish I had gone after a short action .308 build like a m40Ax or xm3. I also love the look of the McMillan mk13’s but have no real need for a .300 win mag in southern Ohio. It also seems harder and more expensive to source parts for these as you all know.

If anyone has a copy of the spec sheet that comes with a m24 trigger they don’t mind sharing I would love to have a copy, mine didn’t come with one.

As far as a barrel what does everyone recommend? I know a m24 contour that a smith will have to cut for the suppressor but beyond that I have no clue at all. Rock creek isn’t accepting any orders currently and it’s my understanding they supplied the correct barrels. Overall this is a part I’m willing to upgrade from clone correct as this will probably be the only bolt gun I ever build and I want it to be as accurate as possible for all the money invested. What all do I need to know and what brand to go with? Tell me like I’m stupid here.

I plan to go with a Nightforce nxs 3-15x50 as I don’t care for the other correct options offered, especially for the price they fetch. Anyone know what ring height I’ll need for nightforce rings with the mars zero moa rail?

What’s the correct barrel lug or can I just go with something like a badger?

I believe NF made the 1.265" height for that rail.

Like these.
Link Posted: 12/10/2022 2:04:13 PM EDT
[#43]
1.125" if you want to be period correct. 1.125 on a MARS rail provides a 1.375 clip on alignment which was standard back then. MK13-0. MK13-2, MK13-3, MK13-5, M24A2, M2010 ETC. all had a 1.375 alignment.  Later, 1.5" became the standard which continues to today. The NF NXS 1.265 provide around a 1.5" alignment but are not the period correct option if doing a strict clone.
