Build write-up - https://www.ocabj.net/precision-rifle-project-series-vudoo-gun-works-v-22/

Component list:

  • Vudoo Gun Works V-22 barreled action, Bartlein 20" MTU contour (30 MOA base) in FDE - $1770

  • TriggerTech Diamond Pro Curved - $290

  • Masterpiece Arms BA Competition Chassis - $999

  • American Rifle Company M10 34mm, 28mm height scope rings - $180

  • KAHLES K525i 5-25x56mm LSW SKMR3 - $3299

Not many rounds down the pipe, yet. Unfortunately, barreled action was received and built during a vacation blackout at work so I'm still breaking it in. Center-X seems to shoot better than SK, though.

I've totally redone my CZ since I posted a while back. It has a Keystone custom fit 24" barrel, PRX III tuner, Scar 2-stage trigger set around 6 total ounces, Oryx chassis and Vudu 8-32 scope in Seekins rings. It is a hammer. I took it out a few days back to try and dial the tuner in. It isn't quite where I want it, but on a known good setting it averaged .308" CTC 5 shot groups over 5 total groups with SK Pistol Match. This was shooting prone with a bipod and rear bag too. Based on my experience before the tuner, Center X will average better.

At this years SHOT Show I ordered a Geissele Mk18 rail.  I had it coated Magpul FDE and then stuffed in my Compass Lake Engineering rimfire guts.  The barrel is a Douglass or a Lilja with an old JET titanium integral suppressor.  I have mainly been shooting my Vudoos lately, but sometimes a semi-auto is so much fun.  And being able to toss it on my tri-pod anywhere is pretty cool as well.

S&B 3-20x50 in a Spuhr mount on top.

I also had the barrel modified to a "cone" breech face to give more room for gunk to go when shooting suppressed.

Yes.  Very happy with the accuracy, but it will hover around 3/4 MOA at 100 yards with most decent ammo.

It took some dinking around to get the firing pin protrusion set to where I was happy and the mags can use some tweaking to make them feed smoother.

A budget precision 10/22 I built 10 years or so ago with a 17.5 green mountain match target barrel. I did a jb weld trigger job tuned the bolt, added my own long mag release drilled the bolt catch for a simple pull release, pillar bedded and action bedded it into the Boyd’s blaster. Added really shitty Tasco 6-24, EGW 20moa base and a crappy eBay bipod.

Took it out today for a test run with SK magazine.

Still shoots.

I think I could have done better off a bench, but hanging the butt off of the rickety range lane table will have to do.

So far, it rivals anything I’ve messed with in the $700-1000 price range.

It tracks and returns to zero amazingly well and the glass is great. It does suffer from pretty bad chromatic aberration, but nothing worst than others in its space.

It came to me with non functional illumination, but bending the contacts on the battery cap fixed that.

Time will tell how well built it really is, but for the $400 I paid for it, I could not be happier. I almost canceled the order and bought a vortex viper, but I’m glad I didn’t. The viper is not $600 better.

The wait was almost three months, so there’s that...
