I’ve recently started to get set up to reload (great timing). I’m going to be loading for 6 Creedmoor initially and H4350 seems to be the go to powder but very difficult to find. Has anyone used IMR 4451 or Vihtavuori N555 as substitutes for 6 CM?

Haven’t tried it in the 6 but IMR4451 is a great replacement for H4350.

Reloder 16 in 6.5 Creedmoor.
Probably a better choice. Phooey. I misread, but the answer will be the same. . |

StaBALL 6.5 or H4831SC...anything in that burn range is GTG.

I tried IMR4350 for a bit, but it does not have quite enough juice for the 6.5creed in competition. Works for plinking loads however.

When I got into 6.5 creedmoore, couldn't find H4350. Reload book showed RL17. Worked better than I thought. Then when I did find H4350, did a comparison test. RL17 actually did better with less powder. BUT, its a little temp sensitive so if you use RL17, do your load development in the summer. Eventually got out of 6.5 creedmoore.

IMR 4451 is good stuff and Hodgdon’s own website says it’s the closest suitable substitute for H4350. It isn’t the same charge weights though so please read before loading. I’ve used it in 7mm-08 and 6.5C with good effect. Never tried IMR 4350, but I think it’s an older recipe anyway that isn’t as temp stable as the Enduron series.
