What do you recommend for a bipod that mounts to a Remington sling stud? Prefer to stay in the $250 or less price range.

You're going to break your sling stud with an F-class bipod. They're heavy as shit.

The Harris or similar will work just fine on a sling stud.  Some of the earlier Sinclair F-class bipods did as well.

That said, mounting a piece of pic rail up there will simplify the mounting process quite a bit - and open up the bipod selection considerably.



Apparently, you haven't used many, or at least not recently.  Most of the top models weigh about the same as a Harris.  Even the older ones that are heavier... if you manage to 'break' the bipod stud using them, you're not using it correctly.

All the F-class bipods I've ever tried are over 4lbs.

Which ones have you tried?  The Phoenix is just under 2#, Joy Pod and Duplin are 18 oz, etc.  Keep in mind that the whole package needs to weigh under 18.18#, so 4# of bipod would be a pretty big obstacle to overcome in making weight.
