Anyone have any details? I read something about them but the details were kind of sparse.

I got nothing other than at some point I saw some pics online of some prototypes sitting on a bench.
Looking forward to seeing the real deal. |

I was about to buy a 455, but now, I'm going to wait.

Biggest advantage over the 455 would be the shorter bolt lift...other than that I don't see any reason to wait. |

Smaller, lighter and sleeker -- here's a first look at the new CZ 457 rimfire platform.
The biggest change is the switch to a push-to-fire safety system, which means the safety is no longer 'backwards' to many in the American market. But that's not all -- other upgrades are as follows: The action has been shortened and slab-sided to reduce bulk and weight, reduced bolt rotation means increased clearance for large scopes, the trigger is adjustable for creep, poundage and overtravel, the bottom metal is now sculpted and sleek, metalwork is finished in nitride to give it the look of a quality blue with the corrosion resistance of stainless, and the interchangeable barrel system and smooth-running magazine system of the 455 is retained unchanged. Last but definitely not least, the firing pin weight has been significantly reduced, resulting in less disruption at the shot and enabling a tad more accuracy. Shown here as the new 457 Varmint Precision Trainer, it wears a carbon fiber composite stock from the fine folks at @mannersstocks, a 24" heavy threaded barrel and the CZ Rimfire suppressor (sold separately, of course). I do care about looks, and so a lot of other 455 owners. That pot metal high-school shop class trigger guard should never have gone on the gun.
"the bottom metal is now sculpted and sleek, metalwork is finished in nitride to give it the look of a quality blue with the corrosion resistance of stainless" CZ heard the complaints, and looks to be working the issue. Be nice if the 457 guard fits the 455, and they don't charge the $135 DIP does. |

I'm a little concerned about the looks. Stippling instead of checkering on some models - and the model branded or otherwise incorporated on the stock on some. I'd expect some to fly off the shelves for a while.

Well.....question is now which to buy:
CZ 457 MTR Tikka T1x and drop it in a KRG Bravo once they're available CZ upgraded the 457 with a 60 deg. bolt, fixed the safety, gave it a nicer trigger that's actually usable, fixed the trigger guard, and the MTR has a match chamber (and hopefully a solid barrel). The Tikka seems like it'll have a slicker action and will have a good barrel and trigger. It'll be about $200 more for the T1x and chassis over the CZ MTR. Decisions, decisions. What's ARFcom's choice between these two if you can only have one? This will be a bench only rifle shot for groups. |

View Quote I never owned a 455, but the safety and trigger guard is a matter of opinion. I own/have owned a lot of 452s. I like the safety on them, and never had any issue with the design of the trigger guard. |

I’ll wait to see one in person. Looks “cheaped out” vs the 452/455. Like a Marlin bolt action...more crude. I guess we will see.

Ended up selling my CZ455 Precision Tactical 16.5" and placed an order for the 457 in 16.5" as well.
Not in stock, but hopefully I'll get it sooner than later, and it's only costing me about $100 difference. |

I LIGHTENED UP my 455 trigger and it is the best trigger I have. The trigger guard is stamped steel. Not pot metal as some other previously mentioned. It is very sturdy. I would love to have a stainless DIP for looks only though. It is not a $135. part. I'll Pass on it. |

Shooting 10 round groups to test consistency. At 25 yards it'll one hole just about everthing. At 50 yards mine shoots SK Magazine, RWS Target Rifle, SK Target Rifle, and RWS Special Match just about the same, around 3/4 inches. Lapua Center-X shoots noticeably better, but the best 50 yard group I've shot thus far was with Eley Practice 100. For those of you guys saying that it looks/feels cheap. No. No it doesnt. The action is nice, and smooths up even more with use. I got the Varmint Model and the walnut it came with is very nice. The trigger is fully adjustable and pretty nice. Not as nice as my Sako's, but extremely nice for the price point. |
