Have a remington 700 in a chassis that accepts AICS mags. The rifle came with a 5 round Magpul AICS mag.

Was thinking about picking up more, but there are so many options from inexpensive Ruger, to Magpul, to MDT polymer / metal hybrids, to real-deal AICS metal mags (plus many others).

Was just curious what people run and why.

Also, what about capacity? I like the small package of the 5-rounders, but the extra capacity of the 10s sound nice too. Just have to take into account t the extra height to get the mags in and out.

Was thinking about picking up a second 5 rounder, and a 10 rounder (so a full box of 20 rounds can sit nicely in the 3 mags)

I use MDT, in a PT&G bottom metal, Savage rifle. I chose them because its a wildcat cartridge and I was able to easily file the feedlips of a 223 mag, to fit my rounds. Mags work great and are a good price. MDT seem like good peoples, too.

I use MDT 12 round mags. Every stage I’ve shot in my brief time shooting PRS matches has been 12 rounds or less so I can shoot without reloading.

I am shooting a long action, but I use Accurate Mag AICS type 3.850" CIP mags, they work flawlessly for my 300rum...

Accurate Mag and MDT steel mags exclusively. Plastic mags I won't use since they don't usually have the OAL capacity of steel and the sides can bulge when filled to capacity (seen this a few times). 10 round mags come in single stack/single feed and in double stack single feed which makes them shorter. Both rifles below have 10 round mags for .308 size cases. You can see how much farther down the top one extends (single stack [which is actually staggered just a little bit] / single feed) than the bottom one (double stack / single feed).

MDT steel mags are not excellent IMHO. Too many malfunctions that a better follower design could solve. Accurate Mag mags are awesome. Never a single malfunction.

Magpul 10 rounders fit both the XLR element and the MDT chassis with rem 700 and deviant actions just fine. Also fed 6.5Creed on the deviant once I switched up calibers
