First entry of what I hope to be many more. Savage MkII FV-SR in Boyd's Tacticool stock. Primary Arms 4-16x44 SFP (shots taken at 16x). 50yrds from sitting bench with bipod and rear bag. Ammo was Eley Target (yellow box) .22lr. Unfortunately, forgot to get a pic of the target down range. Not an entry, but was sighting in a new scope on my Savage BAT and testing 2 different loads. It definitely like Federal GMM.

I went out and shot today so I could tell you good groups and that I have always wanted to do an accuracy test between a barrel with no flash hider then one with an A2 properly torqued and finally an A2 over torqued all to hell. The rules apparently now saw you cannot make a comment unless you post groups within the rules so I will do just that. Go shoot again so you can come and reply about your findings with bare muzzle shooting. Im rebarreling my .22 and figured I would get a baseline to see how it lines up after the changes are complete. This is with ely sport which isn't amazing stuff. I have a pile of it on hand so it is what got shot today. Crazy windy day blowing my stand around and I forgot to bring decent targets but thats what the weekend is for right getting out and having a good time shooting. I like the little scope it will work fine for small game but the .3moa center hairs seem awfully big. 22LR 50M magnified / America / ruger10/22 / Vortex diamondback 2-7 rimfire on 7x / ely sport 40 grain / 2.422/2.9/.99/1.889/1.786 = 1.997avg 
Them cross hairs look pretty big on those little lines. Gives me a good base though. Shouldn't have to be said but the mutt was in the truck while I was shooting to ensure she didn't kill me whilst I was unsuspecting. |

Went out again today to try with my Savage MkII. Had some gusty winds early on that made things slow going, but as I was shooting for groups, things calmed down and I got a really nice final group on target. Also had a chance to test some .223 handloads and play around with my 9mm SBR, so overall a great day of shooting. The setup:  Downrange to the target:  Results:   Any 22lr rifle with magnified optic at 50 yards , D_Man: Savage MkII FV-SR in Boyd's Tacticool Stock- Primary Arms 4-16x44 SFP- Eley Target 40gr. apparently I needed to take a bunch more pictures, but here is my target from messing around yesterday after sighting in a few other rifles.
Savage 93r17 with bushnell Banner 6-24x40. 108 yards lasered distance Hornady 17gr ammo. shooting from Bipod on a picnic table with wheels, lol. Target completed withing 10 mins. Bottom left was shot first, and I adjusted the scope after to correct . I think I mathed right.

Alright, see if I got it right with the format... Rifle set up including rear bag looking at target stand.  Target on the backer with 25 holes.  OnTarget data I've never used it before but it seemed pretty straight forward. I think I screwed up the printing on the target as the squares where all .49in but I used that number when calibrating OnTarget so I think that corrects it? .891+ 1.184+.966+.952+ 1.186= 5.179 5.179/5=1.03 Tikka CTR 260 shooting the FGGM 140's, MK6 w/ Tremor. Shoots better than me. |

Hopefully it will get better down the road since I'll be fouling the barrel before attempting groups

Prone. No rear bag. Basic bipod up front. 50 yards. hmmm... that was way better than I expected!

I was pretty happy with how the 77/22 shot at 50, so I decided to stretch it out to 100.
We were out of targets, so I had to use one of the kids Pokeman targets. We were also way out of daylight. Pretty sure I am the first to make a night time entry. lol Shot sitting at the bench. Sandbags for the front. Borrowed a squeeze bag for the rear. Rear of the gun was under my control the whole time.

My first MOA shoot and I used someone else's (thanks Andy) rifle. AR15 magnified. I shot at 50 yards but corrected MOA listed. 62gr Black Hills reloads. It's the Crosstac squeeze bag. Groups: 0.598", 0.765", 0.662", 0.916", 0.593" = 0.7068" ave = 0.675 MOA. Each group is actually a slightly different powder charge as I was working up a load. Guess I found a good node! |
