Be aware that inside the city limits of Gatlinburg is subject to their rules, licenses, etc. If you venture into the GSMNP, those are different rules, licenses, etc. Same applies to closed days. Gatlinburg has some days closed to fishing, the GSMNP does not.
Check the regs before fishing otherwise you could end up with a ticket.

With all the tourists there now, remember that getting off the beaten path almost always guarantees better fishing. Simply getting off the side of the road will not usually be very good especially with other fishermen, picnickers, etc. I have fished the park for right at 40 years and it never ceases to amaze me those that will complain of not catching anything but only want to fish off the side of the road.
