The time to get back in the woods to hunt and come. I haven’t been in the woods in years. My grandfather who was like a dad to me passed away in 2017, and I just haven’t been able to get over that. His birthday was two days before rifle season opened up in WV, and always the week of thanksgiving. Going into the woods would be the same without him. Last week I decided to get back out there do it for him. My grandmother sold his AR that he hunted with, so I’m thinking of just taking my S&W 29 out there with some hard cast rounds. I had planned on getting a 10MM but have not yet. Wish me luck!  Plan on going next Saturday to a local state game land as I don’t have any land here to hunt.

You dont honor anyone by living less of a life.

Been there, you dont get over it ever so stop waiting for that day to come. You either live with it or stop living.

@Greenspan I honestly can’t wait to get back in the woods.

This.

Not sure I want to hear that wheel gun bark though... I'd go with a medium rifle.

Good luck!
Any chance you could track down the rifle and buy it back? Might be worth a shot, just for the sentimental value.

I don't think your grand dad would want you to give it up. Be grateful that you got to go with him until the end. My dad have up serious hunting around 1978 before we left virginia and I never got to go with him. I did take his ashes with me this year though. And got to take my son out with me. Pass it on.
