(This is my first year owning chickens)



What's going on with the dark spots?  Are they scabs?

I don't have chickens but found this site with info that mentions "Fowl pox" as black spots on the comb.

i have 32 chickens, in south LA.... my chickens get that and is usaually because of  mosquitoes in the coop... put a fan on them at night and it clears up... but again might be somthing diff in your case

what my chickens look like but not near that bad, they end up about like your hens before i catch it and spray or put a fan... i find i usually use cedar chips in there coop and that helps alot with all the bad buggs you dont want in there

Thanks!  I've been using straw.  Will try cedar.

i always heard stay  away from straw for coops, chickens when they are board will eat it and cause a impacted crop... dont know that for sure, but just what i have heard..

Comb looks dry. Go to your local ranch store. Atwoods or tractor supply. They have some liquid you can put on their combs. I forget what the product is called but it’s not expensive
