I’m looking for a new to me HF rig, that doesn’t have tubes....and a local guy has a 570 for around $475.  I know it’s an older radio.  Is that a good price?  I’m looking for a CW and digital rig.  I’m currently using my Ts50 so I guess it is somewhat newer...but should I just save more and get a newer rig?

good rig, not exactly "new"

they've been around since the late 1990's

I would work some overtime, and spend a bit more.

Wait and save a bit more money. Get an Icom IC-7300. You will appreciate all the filtering and other features. especially if you are planning to do CW.
If money is tight, get an IC-718 or FT-450. Yaesu FT-891 is also a great little radio for the money.

I like my 570sg. It's a good radio. Someday I'll upgrade to a 590 but the 570 has been pretty good to me. I've owned Icom 746/7200 yaesu 897/857/817 and a kenwood 440 and of those I like the 570 best.

Only 2 gripes that I can remember: 1) The keyer in mine was funky, yielding an extra dit now and then. 2) IIRC there is only one slot for an extra filter. I bought a 270 Hz filter and it RANGGGGGG like crazy. Play with it first since it is local, those issues may have been fixed. The SG model has 6M and is slightly newer (I think) The filters don't seem be available new.
Universal Radio has a good synopsis here.

My advice, FWIW, save a little more and get a used ic-7200 + mfj 939 tuner.
In the last month I've seen a couple of 7200's in the $500-600 range on swap.qth.com.
Definitely gave me an itchy finger seeing those prices.
You've got a working radio with the TS-50.
It seems to me that the jump from the TS-570 generation of radios to the TS-590/ic-7000/ic-7200 is significant.
On board soundcards/USB interfaces for one.
Then there is the jump to IC-7300.  But to get to an IC-7300 you're looking at a kilobuck.
But if you can spend a hundred dollars more you should be able to make that jump in generations to a step beyond that ts-570.

Oh it's a jump from the TS50... but I also have an 817, and have owned 857, 706, 718 etc.  I have a shop full of radios.  They just are all Kenwood Hybrids, Drakes, Hallicrafters, Heathkit, Viking etc.  Those are my true loves...I just want something newer to run digital on, and to take out and set up for the Scouts etc.

Get something with a built-in soundcard, like a TS-590 or the Arfcom favorite ICOM something, something, carryhandles, something...

The best bang for the buck in my opinion currently is the IC-7100. I use mine for digital modes all the time. One cable and done for digital modes.

I can tell you that I received one in March and never powered it on.
Now I need to get it powered and test it out.
