Goal is good light transmission and overall quality.  I have thought about buying a used Trijicon Accupoint or a Zeiss 3-9x40.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have the 4-16x50 on that same rifle in 6.5 CM. Great glass for the money and doesn’t weigh a ton.

Nikon going out of the optics biz....  If you look around, there are some nice deals on some very good glass.

FYI Midway has a ton of scopes on clearance right now besides the vortex I posted.
I now own more scopes than rifles thanks to this sale.

I have Leopold vx2 3x9s on my hunting rifles.  Nothing fancy but they hold up and they work.

for that kind of money you can easily pick up a Leupold VX3i 3.5-10x.   Its a great quality scope, with very good light transmission and with a magnification range completely suitable for your use.  As a bonus, its about 6 ounces lighter than many comparable scopes....

They had a browning a bolt come in. Snagged that with a bushnell trophy for less than the cost of the mossberg. I may update that glass though and put the bushnell on my 22

For standard duplex and good light transmission I like my VX3 4-14x50. It is on my go-to 7mm Rem Mag. Though I may look to upgrade it in the next year or two just because. It brings in more than enough light within legal hunting hours.

If you want a great scope with more tactical style features, I have seen several SWFA SS 3-15x42 scopes on the EE for under $500. Very nice glass for the price, FFP, and a Mil reticle with well respected turrets.

I was looking at the Vortex Razor Light Hunters when they were still on closeout last year, but missed the boat and now they are all gone.

I scored a Razor LH 1.5-8x32 on Amazon for $390 in November. Just looked, they are still for sale $442. Just watch the price, it goes up and down. After I bought mine I think 1 or 2 days later price got down to I think $350ish before it shot back up! Anyways... freaking amazing scope for the money, has been awesome on my 16" Aero M5 308
