Something as simple as a solar powered jackery could keep you up. I'm a ham operator, but the bug never bit me. I'm lousy at it. The repeater on my cell tower with diesel backup wouldn't stay up forever. If things really went sideways, I suspect most comms would be short distance anyway. |

If you happen to be in the market for a generator WEN 1,900 watt (2,500 surge) inverter generator for $249 I already dropped $299 on the refurbished Firman 1600 / 2000, but had I known this was coming I probably would have snagged this instead. Pros: New (not refurbished) unlike the earlier Firman ebay deal More powerful than the Firman (300 watts + higher surge) Lighter than the Firman Second 110v socket Air intake presumably isn't on the BOTTOM like the Firman's  (Honestly what was Firman thinking) |
