Its flat ground. We will both be gardening and have grazing. I'd like an assessment of his list. He is now shopping used stuff, but the plan is for us to have 2 machines and share implements. Commonality isn't a bad thing.

We are a citrus/cattle family, but have never lived the "rural" life. I didn't wish to start yet another thread, as the audience here is awesome. The nearest green outfit is a couple hours away. I rather doubt we both need the hp he is considering. The only other thing we'd both appreciate is a digger, but he is going to pass initially. We have a jcb 4 miles down the road if we have a bigger project. That said, trenches, ditch maintenance, etc., may warrant one.

I like orange tractors over green for the ease of finding skid steer quick attachments. JD uses their own proprietary setup that isn't as available and usually cost a bit more.

I have had an L3800 for about 10 years and work the hell out of it.

The grapple and valve are invaluable, but you can save 2/3s the cost by getting an MTL grapple and Summit Hydraulics valve kit.

Use the savings to have rear remotes added

I have a summit 3rd function valve on my l4600 and it's been great. The install was straight forward as well.

SSQA was an option on the green tractor I bought a couple of years back.  Same money as the JD proprietary setup IIRC.

Learn something new every day, every one I've seen has had the JD QA. Seems odd they would offer them both.

They get into the mood to change. Then they don’t. Then they do.

I personally believe the JD QA is superior.  No springs. No moving parts. Nothing to break. And I’ve broken several SSQA pieces before on my other equipment. Also no more getting buckets stuck on it. Etc.

And JD QA is sold at the same recommended manufacturers such as titan equipment. For the same price, if not less.

JD usually pushes Fossie which cost a bit more.

I bought a skidsteer to euro quick connect when I bought my last skidsteer. It’s not a bad idea to have Euro connect equipment at auction goes cheaper than name brand or skidsteer.

I really do like it more.

My TN60a with SSQA is essentially a pin on system now.  The SSQA plate on the loader has been rebuilt several times. The springs and guides keep breaking. So now it’s on the manure bucket and not ever getting changed.

I’ve broken the SSQA on my cat 262 as well.

I’ve bent the lips on i don’t know how many SSQA hay forks, the light duty ones just get worn out. So no more tractor supply ones. We bought a super heavy duty one last time.

Better, Amish.

My 336 JD square baler went down yesterday, couldn't get part I needed. I usually square their hay for $1/bale.   Offered to roll bale, but ended up pulling this thing around for them.  400 bales on this thing today.

A 60 year old square baler running on a V-twin B&S Vanguard instead of PTO.  What you can't see are the steel wheels.

Amish kids waiting on wagon.

Ha, adventures with the Amish. I'm outnumbered in my neighborhood. There's one group that runs balers like that with a pony engine. Another group uses a hay loader to load loose hay on the wagon, then feed it into a baler parked by the barn and feed it up into the hay mow. Another group owns a round baler and rents a neighbors tractor, ha.

Did some work on my Bushhog 286 this last week.  As usual, I used my tractor to lift and move the bushhog around so it was easier to access it and work on it.  The last time I ran the bushhog, one of the runners broke and peeled off, digging big gouges in the dirt.

Here is a poor pic of the peeled back runner:

Of course this is on the bottom of the bushhog, so the first order of business is to bring it into the shop and lift it up so I can work on it at a comfortable height.  To whit:

New runner on the left side.  I decided to just weld it this time instead of using bolts and nuts.

I also reinforced the right side with a new front edge:

I also cleaned out and repaired this broken out section on top of the deck.  This is the "Before" pic, but neglected to take the "After" pic.

Thanks for looking!

I don't use mine a ton, but when I do it's an absolutely awesome thing to have.
