Just read on another site that Slavko, one of the most prolific operators I know of has passed away. . He was a pretty cool contact, one of my first DX, and he was great for testing equipment once he knew you.
Godspeed Slavko, may you have S1 noise, and perfect propagation on your journey.

I just mailed him a QSL card and $5 four days ago to get Slovenia confirmed.

I talked to him enough that he would chat with me to find out what rig and antenna I was using at the time. I used him to see if antennas I was working on were getting out. I think he got a kick out of working me with 20w.

I hate to hear that. I've had QSO's with him and his brother as well.

My 2nd HF contact and 1st DX.  Of course not confirmed because:

Please note: I am NOT on LoTW and I am NOT using eQSL! I also not confirm QRZ.COM logs, flags, etc! Instead of collecting and counting flags will be much better if you spend more time operating! There is still two other possibilities to confirm the contact: bureau or direct! Please dont ask me for LoTW or eQSL or QRZ.COM confirmation!

Kind of ironic, mailing shit takes more time away from operating than uploading to LOTW or QRZ.

That's a shame. He was always friendly to me.

I had 5 log entries with him on SSB starting in 2010 with the last one about a year ago on 10 meters.

I quit logging him and never tried to get a card. I usually said hello if I heard him. That dude loved making contacts.

Bummer. Always liked saying Hi when scrolling thru the band and hearing him. I think he shared the station with his brother.

It was a slow DX day not many answering his CQ, so I answered his call and said I thought it was great sharing the hobby with his brother and wife

He went on a rant about having to deconflict playing radio with his brothers home from work schedule and how he was missing good propagation times ,………for 10 minutes.

It was awesome!

RIP brother.

I just checked my log and my first contact with him was on my second day on the air.

I only have a handful of HF voice contacts outside the US, and he was top of the list.
Rest in peace Slavko.

His brother was nice enough to get my card back to me, even though I mailed it after Slavko's death.
