Got my Elk back from last fall's hunt and ready for him to go to his new home above my fireplace.

Question:  What kind of tricks do some of you use to mount taxidermy this heavy?

I have whitetail deer heads, but they weigh 35# - this dude weighs 125#+.  I know I can just use a lag bolt and it's rated for far more than that in just standard sheetrock, but thought I would ask to see who has other/better options and make sure there isn't something i'm missing.  My primary concern is how much weight is away from the wall, out towards the nose where alot of the antler weight is.

Anyways, what says the hive?

A few pics:

Finally found him after having to let him sit over night:

The back should be slotted for a lag bolt and washer. Just make sure you center punch a stud and you are fine.

Good luck!

Sounds good - it is slotted and has metal reinforcing for a lag bolt/washer.
