First, a question:

I’ve always worn cotton because they are comfortable, and I don’t recall reading anything bad about cotton for underwear only.  I DO NOT wear cotton long underwear and use polypropylene, wool, aramid, etc for that.

Is it generally recommended to use a material other than cotton for underwear?

If yes, what do you recommend?

If no, what do you recommend?

Thank you for any help.

Costco/Kirkland boxer briefs are the shit.  As one reviewer put it, "It feels like my genitals are being cupped by cherubs."

Love my Jockey boxer briefs. Great breathability for our "warm" summers, and they've held up just fine over the last few years.

I have worn synthetic underwear for a long time.  It helps keep the boys drier and keeps my thighs from chafing.

Under Armor was the cat's ass until they changed everything.  I still have some that are 15-16 years old.

Duluth Trading Buck Naked is what I wear now.  Their Armachillo line is very similar to the old UA, but the waistband rolls too easy.

They make 3 lengths in the Buck Naked.  I prefer the regular, mid-length.  The long ones are OK, but the short ones ride up my ass when I bend over.

Duluth Trading 100% cotton short boxer briefs... Wait for a sale though and you can pick them up for a better price. They are the first ones I tried that don't bunch up in the crotch, climb up my ass, pinch where they shouldn't, or have loose leg holes..  Put simply, they are really comfortable, they work well, and keep my junk comfortable.

I no longer wear cotton underwear.

Summer jog shorts with liner or nothing.  Sometimes compression shorts.

All other seasons I wear generic compression shorts off of amazon .

Another vote for Duluth trading..... I’ll also add that battle briefs from tactical distributors are great.

When I joined the Army I started rolling commando in basic training and stayed with that practice for years afterwards.  Then I got some Jockey sport micro midway briefs to help with chaffing on longer hikes and now that's what I wear everyday.

Still working on figuring it out.  But stay away from Duluth.  They are garbage.

Wife bought me a pair from their retail store a couple years ago as I wanted to see what the hype was about.  The second time I wore them, two seams started unraveling and by the end of the day had mostly fallen apart.  Tried to return to the store with receipt, they refused.  Have never and will never purchase anything else from them.  Overpriced and overhyped

Lotsa views and suggestions.  As usual, many good suggestions, but very few suggestions from folks who have tried multiple items, and so have a direct comparison.

Frustrating.

Ive tried WoolX and Smartwool. My smartwool lasted years, my WoolX lasted mere months.

Cotton seems to work fine, so long as you don't expect it to be primary insulating layer when damp...

Wait until you see the Buck Naked boxers or boxer briefs on sale for under $14. If you're not picky on color this will be easier. Some just went on sale the other day for 11.99 a pair.

I'm partial to the regular boxer but both are good to go.

This. I prefer the long length. Most comfortable I've ever worn.
The quality has gone down some, though, and they don't last as long (true with most DT stuff I've learned). Still, their underwear are the only ones I buy.

All I wear are Jockey rapid cool boxer briefs.

In the muggy Houston summers they are awesome to keep your boys dry.

My wife got me Spyder men's briefs for christmas.  They're probably rice made in China but I like them and will be slowly replacing my fruit of the loom briefs with them.

Have not tried the exoficios. Rocking Duluth buck nakeds. Way better than anything else I've worn. It's odd though. When you feel them with your hands they feel kinda rough. Disappear when you wear them.
