On Sept 9, 2013 we ordered some oxygen absorbers form Amazon and as soon as they got here sealed up three glass half gallon canning jars of with powdered milk and an oxygen absorber. The milk was whatever brand big box from Sams.

A little while ago I found one in the back of the pantry and l just left it there in the dark. We ran out of milk this morning and I thought about it so decided to try some. It still looked like powdered milk and when I opened it (it was vacuum sealed HARD) smelled like powered milk so I mixed some up. I couldn't tell the difference in taste than if I had bought it yesterday.

I had no idea powdered milk would last that long, even with the oxygen absorbers. My guess is it would be good for at least a few more years under the same conditions.

Good job.  Ya gotta test your stores!

We've done the same but haven't tested any past about 4 years after sealing.

This is good to know.

I have some from the LDS store, they advertise 20 year shelf life.
