Had some time to kill today before going to hunt a new property...met a guy a couple days ago and he gave me the green light to hunt yotes.

Been wanting to knock the dust off the TC .30-30 Winchester so I set up near an area where I expected to see hogs. When I arrived the hogs were already out in the field so I had to cat and mouse from oak tree to oak tree where I finally got a 40 yard shot on this sow... she went about 10 yards...

Got set up in my truck and figured I'd try the mount with the TC...

That thing feels like it's in a ransom rest... very solid and stable. A short while later this boar came out at about 40 yards and he dropped in his tracks...

Packed up and went to hunt coyote. I just happened to be on the rifle scanning when this female came running past my truck at about 20 yards and into the field. My caller was not activated so I don't know why she came in hot... but when she slowed to a trot I put a 123gr Hornady SST into her... she spun, I hit her again... and down she went. Glad I was paying attention.

I saw two others crossing the field at about 250-300 yards, they stopped and looked my way when I hit the caller but they simply were not interested and moved on. Heard a lot of coyote in the distance, this new place should be good.

Cool I went out last night and got set up close to the neighbors fence line and their teenage kids decided to have a party. They had this one song with lots of base on a loop. I think they even scared the skeeters or they had some fine sweet tail there that had the skeeters occupied. I didn't even see the normal deer.

Looks fun! I want to take a hog with a handgun. I often hunt from a tree stand near roller barrels that I’ve shot hogs at for several years. I’m Always carrying a .45 of some sort too. One of these days when they walk in under me I plan on setting the rifle down and drawing the pistol, but I’m finding it kind of hard to do in the moment??

OP, Love the Contender action. I bought 30.30 14" for hogs that I need to get set up and find loads for.

Is that mount on a hunting rack in your truck?

Awesome truck rig, especially the  circle for the gun mount.  Critters don't have a chance

I've shot a couple with my 9mm chasing them on a large wheat field on my 4-wheeler.  So much fun

I bet you ran over one or two We got one stuck under the utv on a mountain road, The squeals were Glorious! I swerved to miss when he diddoed to get out of the road and drug him for about 10 yards. He wasn't happy at all being dispatched with a pocket knife. For some odd reason nobody that day had their CCW.

Last hog i shot with a handgun was with a .40 - I was trying to drag a hog I shot with a rifle where we could load it in the truck, when another hog ran out. Didn’t have the rifle with me, but I had a pistol on my hip. Then I had two hogs to drag...

Under normal circumstances I think I’d miss a hog at a dead run with a pistol at about 20y 90% of the time, but I hit that one right between the eye and the earhole. I’m not that good a shot.

It's funny how God guides a bullet just to see a Redneck work a little harder!

If you’re going to do something like that, it helps to have witnesses.

Yes sir and sometimes you still get questioned! When you miss and have to grab the top of a small tree to swing out of the way is when it sucks to have witnesses. I watched a buddy whoop a 125#'er off with a fishing pole once.
