Apparently someone stole the 2m antenna off my truck at some point between yesterday evening and this evening. My wife had my truck as her 4Runner was out of commission due to idiots at the dealership.

Went to key up this afternoon on a repeater and didn't hear the repeater close. Thought my volume was down, wasn't down. Looked out the rear view and antenna gone.

Glad I hadn't been keeping my Tarheel on there lately

Another reason why I'm hesitant to get an expensive HF antenna for mobile use.

I was fit to be tied when my TARHEEL II was stolen.

It's a legit concern. I had my Little Tarheel on my truck for a long while. I had it off recently and probably not putting it back on unless I know it'll be used.

This.  They probably thought it was a CB or cell phone booster antenna.  Either that or just vandal kids.

Sucks.  I've got QD adapters for my antennas and I'm definitely not parking and walking away when I get my Tarheel on there.

The Tram 217 QD adapters are what I have and they work well.  Take literally 2 seconds to detach the antenna from the stud mount.

This sucks!  I try not to leave my 1KW 10 meter mobile parked anywhere sketchy for this reason... Just the super cap bank is $500..

Contemplating a device that switches the antenna from the radio to an electric fence charger when the vehicle is parked...

The reason I used cheap 1/4 wave mag mounts way back when my wife and I had VHF radios in our vehicles.

The thieves should be beaten to death with the whip section.

For as long as it takes.

That metal damn sure didn't go to feed a starving family.

I am fairly certain it was just some dumbass kids. I guess maybe someone hard up for a GMRS antenna? I can't imagine another amateur would do it, but maybe.

Either way it was an el cheapo. The irritation has gone and now it's just funnily sad. But I am glad my Tarheel wasn't there and it wasn't taken.
